WHAT IS IT?

Subject-verb agreement is a fundamental rule in English grammar that dictates that the subject and verb in a sentence must agree in number. This means that a singular subject requires a singular verb, while a plural subject requires a plural verb.

 

Examples of Subject-Verb Agreement

  • Singular Subject, Singular Verb:  The cat climbs the tree.

  • Plural Subject, Plural Verb: The cats climb the tree.
